EG Gray Transportation Moves on Hunger

PETERBOROUGH, ON — For Rob and Julie Tanguay, owners of EG Gray Transportation, it was a no- brainer.

When they heard that employees of PepsiCo had organized a food sorting event in conjunction with the company’s major food funding donation to Food Banks Canada, they wasted no time getting involved.

On Sept. 22, a sparkling EG Gray tractor and 53 foot reefer trailer showed up at the Toronto Congress Centre to collect 7,500 pounds of fresh root vegetables bound for Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank, North York Harvest, Mississauga Food Bank, Barrie Food Bank and Feed the Need in Durham.

“This is a great way to make a difference in our communities, while at the same time supporting a charitable project of our good customer PepsiCo,” said Rob Tanguay.

EG Gray’s participation was coordinated through Trucks For Change Network (T4C), a non- profit trucking industry organization, which they belong to.

“Thanks to our many generous member carriers like EG Gray, we’ve moved over 10 million pounds of donated food and materials to those in need across Canada,” said T4C Founder Pete Dalmazzi. “Our entire industry should be truly proud of its contributions to communities.”
