EPIQ day cab offerings from Peterbilt

Peterbilt is expanding its Model 579 EPIQ truck line to include a day cab.

The Model 579 EPIQ day cab.The truck’s multi-piece aerodynamic hood comes in 117- and 123-inch lengths, and there’s also a three-piece collapsible roof fairing, and a chassis fairing with rubber skirt. There is a three-piece aerodynamic bumper, a bumper air dam, and bumper-to-hood seals, too. Front wheel closeouts and fender liners, and chassis fairing kickouts, round out the aerodynamic features.

The collapsible roof fairing allows the truck to be transported without completely removing the roof fairing, which is required with most day cabs. The model also comes with Low Rolling Resistance tires, SmarTire tire pressure monitoring system, and a single horizontal exhaust.

Buyers have the option of specifying the full aerodynamic package or can customize it. Components and packages are also available for aftermarket installation.

Combined with 270 pounds in weight savings, it boosts fuel economy by 14% or 19% when coupled with a Paccar powertrain, the company says.

The truck comes with an MX-13 or MX-11 engine, and can be paired with a Fuller Advantage automated transmission for further fuel savings.
