Feds announce appointments to new bridge corporation

OTTAWA, ON – Connie Graham of London, Ont. has been named the first chairperson of The Federal Bridge Corporation.

She will serve a five-year term leading the recently created corporation which will oversee operations and guard Canadian interests at four international bridges in Ontario: the Blue Water Bridge in Point Edward, the Seaway International Bridge in Cornwall, the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge, and the Thousand Islands Bridge at Lansdowne.

Lisa Raitt, Federal Minister of Transport, also named other members of the Federal Bridge Corporation board of directors yesterday.

Micheline Dubé has been appointed as chief executive officer for a four-year term.

Directors include Gary Atkinson and Rick Talvitie for a four-year term, and Pascale Daigneault, Deborah Tropea, and Diana Dodge for a three-year term.

They have a mandate to ensure that the bridges and associated infrastructure are safe, secure, efficient, environmentally sound and well-maintained.
