For Truckers, Definition of R&R is ‘Rev and Relaxation’

TORONTO — For truckers, the definition of R&R may as well be ‘rev and relaxation,’ given the shared appreciation of all things motorized:  classic cars, motorcycles, and the open road.

That’s the motivation behind the Ontario Trucking Association’s (OTA) first cross-Ontario Big Wheels Bike & Car ride on September 12 for motorcycle, hot-rod and classic car aficionados across the industry.

“If there’s one thing truckers know, it’s the open road,” says OTA Chair Jeff Bryan of Jeff Bryan Transport.

The rally has multiple starting points throughout Ontario, but all roads lead to one place: Horseshoe Valley. What’s there, besides gorgeous scenery? A show and shine contest, barbeque, drinks and a chance to talk with other enthusiasts.

You can stay overnight at the Horseshoe Valley Resort and take in a round of golf, or head up to Port Dover for the infamous Friday the 13th event.

“Whether you’re an enthusiast rider, driver or just someone who wants to meet up afterwards for a party and to look at some cool bikes, cars and trucks, we look forward to seeing you on Sept. 12,” Bryan said.

It’s not just OTA members that are invited either; this one is open to non-member carriers, too. No ride? No problem, OTA said. You can still register to network and have some fun.

To register, just go to OTARally.ca and if you want to see your ride featured on the site, just send your photos to marco.beghetto@ontruck.org. You can also check out the OTA’s newly launched Facebook page for other great events.
