Free Christmas crossings at Niagara bridges

LEWISTON, N.Y. – Holiday passage at the three Niagara falls border crossings will be free for both truckers and travelers.

The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission says it will once again offer toll-free travel over the Rainbow, Whirlpool Rapids and Lewiston-Queenston bridges from 11:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Friday, Dec. 24, 2010 until 11:30 p.m. on Christmas Day, Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010.

The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission’s members and employees extend our heartiest best wishes for a safe and healthy holiday season to the travelers across our bridges who may be visiting family or friends, or even have to work, on these special days," said Dr. Ken Loucks, NFBC chairman.

A Commission spokesperson confirmed that free crossing alsoa pplie sto commercial drivers.
