Fuel Surcharges
TORONTO — Average fuel surcharges assessed by carriers increased for the fourth consecutive month in October, according to the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI).
The increase went from 20.48 percent in September to 21.27 percent in October, Nulogx reported.
Meanwhile, the cost of ground transportation for Canadian shippers showed a slight increase of 0.45 percent in October over September, with the Base Rate Index increasing by .01 percent when compared with September.
“Total Costs for Domestic LTL & Truckload increased this month," said Doug Payne, president and COO, Nulogx. "Domestic LTL has seen an increase of 13.9 percent from a year ago while the Domestic Truckload is still 6.5 percent below a year ago.”
“Cross Border LTL and Truckload were both down in October from September, however compared to a year ago, LTL and Truckload are up 2.2 percent and 4.7 percent respectively,” continued Payne.
