General freight rates up, specialized unchanged

OTTAWA, ON – Canadian carriers charged about 0.9% more for their shipments in the fourth quarter of 2016, following a 0.4% increase in the third quarter, Statistics Canada reports.

General freight rates were up 1.3%, while specialized freight rates were unchanged.

The findings were included in the release of the latest For-Hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index.

The data is specific to Canadian loads.
