WASHINGTON -- Surface transportation trade between Canada and the United States shot up another 15.7 percent to $40.2 billion in September compared to the same month in 2009.
The value of imports carried by truck was 10.7 percent higher in September 2010, while the value of exports carried by truck was 17.4 percent higher, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS).
Michigan, not surprisingly, led all states in surface trade with Canada with $5.4 billion.
Overall, surface trade between the U.S. and both NAFTA partners, Canada and Mexico, was 19.3 percent higher, reaching $68.3 billion, of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
