Grant’s Transport Scholarship Winner Hoping To Return Home

NEW LISKEARD, ON-Timiskaming District Secondary School’s Brittany Hermiston has been awarded Grant’s Transport Limited Mathematics scholarship.

Hermiston, who will attend the University of Guelph in September for Biological Science, earned the award after being the school’s top math student.

Grant’s Transport controller, Geoff Walker, presented the annual scholarship at Timiskaming District’s graduation ceremony in Haileybury. Grant’s Transport president, Gord Grant, looks forward to awarding each year’s winner with the scholarship..

“This is a great way to give back to our local community, and to assist a hardworking and dedicated individual with tuition and other university costs,” Grant said.

After earning her Bachelor of Science, Hermiston plans to go into veterinary medicine with a focus on equine practice. Eventually, she wants to return to Northern Ontario, accolades in hand, to open her own veterinary practice. Hermiston also was on her school’s basketball, soccer, baseball, hockey and volleyball teams in addition to serving as a member of the Prom Committee. On top of all that she was also recognized as an Ontario Scholar.

The Grant’s Transport Math Scholarship is awarded annually and is funded by an endowment established by Grant’s Transport Limited, and is administered by the OTA Education Foundation.
