Hino Canada Puts On The Ritz

Beatles tribute band, The Caverners.

TORONTO—Forty years ago, former U.S. President Richard Nixon talked nuclear arms with the U.S.S.R’s Leonid Brezhnev. Tennis upstart Jimmy Connors won at Wimbledon and the Miami Dolphins—hope you’re sitting down—won the Super Bowl. And Hino Canada opened for business.

Hino’s the only one of the above that has kept on winning.

The company invited hundreds of guests to a lavish evening of dining and entertainment at Toronto’s Ritz-Carlton to celebrate not only the 40th year of business (they’ve been in the U.S.A. for 30 years); but to celebrate their success in the classes 4-7 truck markets.

Scores of Hino customers loved the delicious hors d’oeuvres, and surf’n’turf entrée, but by any measure, the highlight of the evening came when former Hino Canada President Shin Nakamura took the mic to belt out “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” with Canada’s premier Beatles tribute band The Caverners.

Emcee for the evening was Hino Motors Canada Ltd. Vice President of Sales Eric Smith. Also on hand to offer congratulations and encouragement: Hino Motors Chairman of the Board Masakazu Ichikawa; Hino Senior Managing Director Ichiharu Tanaka and Dealer Principal Vancouver Steve Akazawa.

Hino Motors Canada President Shuichi Kaneko thanked the assembly. Before turning the spotlight over to Nakamura and The Caverners, Kaneko said Hino intends to keep the momentum going. This year, the company will probably sell 1,900 units in Canada and they’re projecting more than 2,000 in 2015.
