Integrated Fleet Software

Customers and third-party developers can now leverage Fleetio data such as  vehicle records, maintenance logs, and driver information in other software applications, thanks to a newly developed API — which stands for application programming interface. It’s a way for programmers to write custom software that interacts with data in another software application. Basically, with an API, Fleetio can now ‘talk’ to other systems.

The Fleetio API enables customers to integrate multiple aspects of their business with fleet-management operations seamlessly. An example would be integration with accounting software. Service entries and work orders can now be pulled from Fleetio and imported into Quickbooks, etc., eliminating double entry into both the accounting software and the Fleetio fleet-management system.

It opens Fleetio up to be a fleet operations platform rather than just a software product, the company says.

Using the API, data stored in Fleetio can be utilized in other third-party systems, and Fleetio data can even be updated in real time by other software applications, all without bulk imports and exports.

The company is now working to integrate Fleetio and its dispatching tools with multiple platforms. Future API enhancements like driver-to-vehicle assignments are coming.
