International Truck has announced what it calls the industry’s first telematics credit, available through approved, integrated telematics providers, effective immediately.

The telematics hardware and a two-year data plan from one of several providers will be standard and available at no cost to the customer through this program.

Hardware and data from the other telematics service provider partners will be partially covered by this program. The credit bundle goes into effect on new orders placed since July 1, 2015 in the U.S. and Canada, and will be available to customers buying directly through the International dealer organization.

The truck-maker says “it is our responsibility to make OnCommand Connection and remote diagnostics available to everyone, so we took the initiative to offer a technology bundle with a portfolio of telematics providers our customers already know and trust.”

Remote diagnostics and vehicle management through the OnCommand Connection portal is a key factor in turning unscheduled downtime into planned, routine maintenance, says International. It also gives the company’s dealer network visibility into vehicle health in order to be proactive in facilitating maintenance and repairs.

“This bundled approach removes the barriers to entry and gives non-telematics customers access to the power of OnCommand Connection,” the company says.
