Kenworth Vocational Options

Kenworth has announced three new options for its vocational trucks, including Allison’s new 4700 RDS 7-speed automatic transmission with optional second ‘deep reverse’. It can be ordered on the Allison's 4700 optional in KW T880, T800, W900, and C500.

The transmission is part of the Allison rugged duty series, aimed at customers operating mixers, dumps, cranes, and heavy-haulers, where the application calls for an increase in overall transmission ratios.

The Allison 4700 RDS offers lower reverse and first-gear ratios for maneuverability by way of better speed control in steep and tricky terrain. It also features no power interrupts, which gives full power shifts and allows full use of the engine’s horsepower.

Kenworth’s T880 can now be ordered with a ‘box bumper’ in either steel or aluminum, available on both short and standard hoods. It features a tapered design, which allows for hood pivot clearance and more protection for the grill and headlight area.

The W900S with the PACCAR PX-9 engine in a set-forward front axle configuration gets a fixed-grille option. It allows body builders to use the front of the truck without affecting the ability to open the hood, especially useful for crane operators or vacuum trucks with a ‘steady leg’ or boom supports.
