Lane-Departure Warning

WABCO’s “next generation” OnLane lane-departure warning system (LDWS) features a new, high-resolution camera integrated with SmartDrive’s video-based driver-performance management tool. The company notes that it’s an industry first.

The new camera-based LDWS continuously monitors the vehicle’s position within lane markings. With new algorithms it’s said to deliver improved lane-marking recognition. It alerts the driver via visual, audible, or haptic warnings to take corrective action when it detects unintentional lane changes.

OnLane now links to the SmartDrive system, incorporating video recording and near real-time video analysis. This combination of capabilities eliminates the need for two forward-looking cameras previously required to provide the same functionality.

WABCO’s OnLane enabled by SmartDrive represents the first product integration arising from WABCO’s strategic partnership with, and US$20 million investment in, California’s SmartDrive Systems.
