Mack and Volvo Trucks Appoint Two New Presidents

GREENSBORO, NC – Be proud, Canada, as fellow hardworking Canuck Ron Huibers is one of two new appointments announced by the Volvo Group within their Mack brand and Volvo brand.

Ron Huibers, formerly Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Volvo Trucks in North America, was named President of North American Sales and Marketing, by Volvo Trucks yesterday. The 15-year veteran will be responsible for the company’s commercial activities in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Huibers has been senior vice president of international operations for Mack Trucks, Inc., business development with Volvo Financial Services, and sales and marketing with Volvo Construction Equipment and President of Volvo Dealer ASC USA. Huibers has taken on various global assignments, both here in the United States and Europe.

Huibers earned a bachelor of business economics from Brock University and a forestry degree from Sir Sanford Fleming College. He has also attended executive programs at IMD in Switzerland as well as Queens and McGill Universities in Canada. He and his wife Jenny are the parents of three children and they reside in Mooresville, NC.

Fellow Canuck Ron Huibers takes on lead role.

Kevin Flaherty — not a Canadian, but don’t hold that against him — has been named President of North American Sales and Marketing for Mack Trucks, Inc., and will be responsible for the company’s North American commercial division.

Flaherty has been with the company for 38 years, and has held the senior vice president role for Canada and the U.S. since 2001.

Both men will continue to work out of Greensboro, NC, and report to Dennis Slagle, who was recently promoted to Volvo Group Executive Vice President for Truck Sales and Marketing Americas. Slagle will oversee commercial activities of all the Volvo Group’s truck brands in North and South America, and have global responsibility for the Mack brand.
