Manitoba Driver Named Canada’s Top Trucker

WINNIPEG, MB-Mark Tricco, 33-year veteran driver from Brandon, MB, was named Canadian National Driver of the Year by Volvo and the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA).

Tricco is an owner-operator at Bison Transport and boasts of over three million miles driven in his career, all collision-free. He’s hauled lumber, heavy machinery, reefers and general freight.

“He is a professional driver who can drive anything you put him in and do it perfectly,” says Don Strueber, president of Bison Transport. “His knowledge and experience as well as his compassion for others is what makes him truly a top professional driver.”

Early on in his career, Tricco witnessed a major accident that involved fatalities. He was one of the first people to arrive on the scene and immediately started to administer aid. He remained on the scene for several hours assisting OPP officers.

Tricco says his mission is to never be the cause of such an accident.

As CTA-Volvo Trucks Canada National Truck Driver of the Year, Tricco was selected from among the provincial Driver of the Year recipients.

The award is given to a Canadian truck driver who has maintained a collision-free driving record and demonstrated exemplary professionalism both on and off the road.
