WINNIPEG, MB – Trappers Transport’s veteran driver, James McKibbon, won the Driver of the Year award from the Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) and Volvo Trucks Canada.

“James has received commendations from Trappers customers for his cooperation and ability to exceed expectations on a regular basis,” his employer said.

An impeccable safety record, commitment to the industry and to customer service, and a role model in the community. Those are the characteristics that the MTA and look for each year in the Driver of the Year. McKibbon delivered in each category: he has 33 years of safe driving behind him and his peers describe him as loyal, hardworking, dependable and the guy that sacrifices his own time without complaint.

Volvo Trucks Canada’s Randy Fleming presented McKibbon with the award at the Truck Driving Championships Awards banquet, held at the Viscount Gort Hotel in Winnipeg on June 21.

McKibbon will go on to compete against the other provincial drivers of the year for a shot at the Canadian Trucking Alliance and Volvo Trucks Canada’s National Driver of the Year.
