MATS: Thermo King brings three new products to market

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Thermo King is introducing three new products that aim to provide environmental and cost savings.

The TriPace Electric APU System, the T-1000 SpectrumTM Multi-Temp Unit for Trucks, and the SmartPowerTM High Output Electric Standby Option, were all unveiled at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky.

Thermo King designed each of these products after listening to customer feedback and performing extensive field and lab tests to ensure these products met operational and environmental concerns.

The TriPace Electric APU System is an all-new electric auxiliary idle reduction and temperature management system designed to maintain comfortable temperature conditions in the truck cab without running an engine.

Because it is battery and not engine operated, fuel and maintenance costs are significantly reduced. It cools clean, quiet and emission-free, meeting anti-idle and anti-emissions regulations and providing optimum system performance and a low life cycle cost.

The T-1000 SpectrumTM Multi-Temp Unit for Trucks is a self-powered multi-temperature unit with the latest in scroll compressor technology. It delivers leading-edge features to customers who need more than one temperature zone in their truck.

Spectrum’s SmartPower electric standby option, along with its Advanced Fuel-Saving Control Technology, provides greater fuel savings in all ambient conditions, hauling fresh or frozen; while its Tier 4 engine emits 38 percent less particulate matter and 54 percent less carbon monoxide than previous engines.

The SmartPowerTM High Output Electric Standby Option provides customers the choice of a 24-hp high-output electric standby option or the existing 14-hp version. It delivers quicker pre-cool and less run time for customers hauling larger frozen loads, along with a greater overall cooling capacity.

Its electric motor not only reduces emissions, waste generation and noise; it also reduces engine wear and tear, resulting in reduced maintenance costs throughout the lifecycle of the unit.

“Our customers need technology that not only meets and evolves with regulatory and environmental requirements,” said Chris Casazza, president of Thermo King. “They also need technology that reduces costs in order to remain competitive. Our innovations are designed to help them achieve both of these goals now and throughout the lifecycle of their fleets.”
