Michigan Opens New I-94 Port Huron Welcome Center

PORT HURON, MI — A new Port Huron Welcome Center has opened in Michigan, located off westbound Interstate 94, for the more than 5.5 million vehicleS crossing the Blue Water Bridge each year.

The facility has nearly 40 parking spaces dedicated exclusively for truck traffic, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation, which runs the site, along with 13 other welcome centers in state.

Construction started on this 7,200-square-foot facility in May 2014. The Port Huron Welcome Center features several cost-saving components, such as geo-thermal wells for heating and cooling, low-water amenities and energy-efficient roofing panels.

More information on these and other such facilities in the state is on the Michigan DOT website.
