Morneau Named Chairman of Training Foundation

MONTREAL – David Morneau, business development director at the trucking company Morneau Eskimo, has been appointed as chairman of the board at the Fondation pour la formation en transport routier and president of the Workforce Committee at l’Association du camionnage du Québec.

He takes over for Bernard Boutin, the foundation’s chairman, who served from 2009 to 2012 and from 2014 to 2015.

“The industry faces many workforce challenges; the foundation develops strategies and supports initiatives that help to ensure a competent pool of human resources to create the next generation of transport professionals. I want to thank Bernard Boutin for the exceptional work he has accomplished over the years, and for the trust he has placed in me by granting me the opportunity to pursue this challenge,” said Morneau.

Since 1992, the foundation’s mission, together with its partners, includes awarding annual scholarships to vocational, collegiate, and university students in the field of transport, in order to stimulate a stronger interest in the freight industry, according to the group.

It also works closely with various institutions and organizations to ensure the industry’s ability to successfully address recruitment challenges.

“Studies have demonstrated that our industry may be facing a labor shortage in the years ahead, across various trades and professions. This confirms the importance of putting strategies in place now that will address the shortage. In this respect, the work accomplished by the Foundation, and by the Workforce Committee will be very important,” said Marc Cadieux, president and CEO of the Association du camionnage du Québec.
