Natural Gas Innovation Fund coming to Canada
OTTAWA, ON — The Canadian Gas Association (CGA) says it’s creating a Natural Gas Innovation Fund to support avenues that research, demonstrate and deploy innovation in the natural gas value chain.
"Natural gas and renewable natural gas are vital to de-carbonization of the Canadian economy, particularly in the areas of trucking and off road transportation,” said Ingrid Thompson, CEO of environmental organization Pollution Probe. “This new innovation fund will enable some of the necessary research to ensure these environmental benefits are fully realized.”
CGA states that investing in innovation in the natural gas sector is essential to create a pathway to greenhouse gas emissions reductions that is both affordable and reliable.
In June, Ontario unveiled a five-year Climate Change Action Plan that includes funds to adopt greener commercial vehicles and build a province-wide natural gas fueling network.
