Navistar, Altec, Trail King recalling vehicles, equipment

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tractors and trailers appear on the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s latest vehicle recall list.

Navistar’s 2016-2017 International ProStar models, 2017-2018 International LT and RH models, and 2017 International LoneStar models are on the recall list because of an air dryer mounting bracket that may fracture. A loss of brake air pressure could increase the distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

The recall is expected to begin May 12, 2017 and Navistar will contact owners and replace the air dryer mounting bracket at no cost.

Altec Industries’ 2015-2016 aerial devices and service bodies equipped with certain JEMS 4A or JEMS 4E4 idle mitigation systems (IMS). A cable part of the IMS may have been improperly installed, possibly causing the cable to rub against an electrical component and short circuit.

With the recall expected to begin May 10, 2017, Altec will be notifying owners and dealers and replace and reroute the contractor cable within the IMS at no cost to the owner.

Trail King Industries is recalling certain 2016-2017 ACS and AACS drop deck fifth wheel trailers. The fifth wheel coupler plates on the recalled vehicles may crack, potentially allowing the trailer to detach from the tractor.

The recall is expected to be begin in April 2017, and Trail King will notify owners and replace the coupler plate free of charge.
