CARSON CITY, Nev. -- The Nevada Senator that's been trying to double diesel taxes in the state for years didn't get his way when the Senate Taxation Committee rejected his bill.
if passed, the proposal would have forced truckers to pay a whopping 12 cents per gallon more for fuel, among other truck-related administrative fees.
Coffin's argument -- that truckers don't pay their fair share for road usage -- didn't convince the Committee. In fact, he was the only one that voted for it, according to the Associated Press.
His critics insist it's the wrong time to raise fuel taxes or implement a "weight-distance levy" on the trucking industry, which is already struggling.
