New Weight Restrictions on Hamilton Bridge

HAMILTON, ON— The York Boulevard Bridge over the CN Railway tracks in Hamilton needs to be rehabilitated or replaced in the near future, staff found at the annual bridge inspection.

Work to upgrade the bridge piers is underway and will continue until March, but in the meantime, there are temporary maximum weight restrictions in place.

The weight restrictions are:

• 48 tonnes for multi-train vehicles
• 36 tonnes for two-unit vehicles
• 25 tonnes for single-unit vehicles

The bridge deck replacement will be recommended in the capital budget process with proposed construction in 2016, subject to Council approval.
