Danylchuk just made it on to the lot at the Iowa 80 Truckstop as the judges were setting out to judge the lights category on Friday evening, day two of the 2008 competition. With only Saturday morning remaining for the judging, Ryan was up all night polishing his stretched out, maroon and orange 2001 Peterbilt 379. And it paid off.
Other Canadians who scored well at this year's outing -- Winnipegers all -- are Andy Bannerman's 2000 Peterbilt Cabover 362 scored 5th in the tractor division; Larry Dyck's 1987 Peterbilt 359 / 2000 Polar Tanker combo scored a second place in the tractor/trailer division, and Larry's son, Jonathan, went home to East Saint Paul, Manitoba -- which is pretty darned close to Winnipeg -- with a third-place finish in the tractor division for his 2007 Peterbilt 379 Legacy edition.
The three-day truck beauty contest for actively working trucks provides owner/operator truckers from the United States and Canada the opportunity to compete for $25,000 in cash and additional prizes.
