I-65 becomes first 'Biofuels Corridor'
10/14/2008
Would you consider filling your tank with a low biodiesel blend?
Absolutely. Anything to limit dependence on conventional oil
No. I don't agree there's significant fuel savings
Not until more research is done with modern engines

GARY, Ind. -- Interstate 65 has been designated America's first "biofuels corridor," with E85 ethanol-blend gasoline and B20 biodiesel-blend diesel available all along the interstate route.

Biodiesel blends are available the entire 886-mile length of the Interstate, from Gary, Ind., to Mobile, Ala. There will also be a biodiesel blending facility on the Indiana-Ohio border.

According to published reports, this is the result of a $1.3 million federal project that involved Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama, the four states through which I-65 travels.

In 2005, there were no E85 or B20 fueling stations along I-65. With the completion of this project, there are 31 refueling stations easily accessible from the Interstate, with more planned.
