WATERLOO, Ont. -- Con-Way Freight is one of the carriers putting new software to use in preparation for the upcoming mandatory Advanced Commercial Information (ACI) Truck e-Manifest system.

Back on Jan. 12, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced a revised ACI e-Manifest initiative. Once implemented CBSA will require advance electronic notification of cargo shipments arriving in Canada by highway.

Con-way is among a small group of LTL carriers authorized by CBSA to use the streamlined import process in advance of the formal regulation mandate by sending electronic cargo and conveyance information to CBSA.

Con-way is working with Descartes' Global Logistics Network (GLN) Customs Filing & Compliance suite.

Already in use for reporting cargo data for air and marine shipments entering Canada and the U.S., Descartes has extended its Global Logistics Network Compliance service to help the international carrier community comply with this e-Manifest initiative.
