CARB sets up online equipment reporting system under AB rule
04/01/2010

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has launched an online reporting system for fleets to report information about their vehicles.

The system, called TRUCRS, was set up for carriers to comply with AB 32, which requires all truckers operating 53-ft dry van and refrigerated trailers in the state to report information about their equipment.

Fleets with 21 or more box-type trailers may take advantage of a phase-in option by reporting trailer information. Fleets with 20 or fewer box-type trailers have until July 1, 2012 to report, says the Canadian Trucking Alliance.

As well, the regulation currently requires all 2011 model year tractors that pull 53’ or longer trailers and all 2011 model year 53’ or longer trailers to be Smartway certified or be retrofit to comply.

Fleets that use Excel spreadsheets may now upload their fleet information into TRUCRS and view the reported information online.
However, fleets that report by completing the printable forms do not need to use the spreadsheet and upload feature, reports CTA.
