FROM THE NEWS DESK...

Earlier this week, the Government of Ontario announced they are raising fees on provincial driver and licences by 70 percent over the next two years. That announcement must have had the Ontario Trucking Association's phones ringing off the hook as the very next day, OTA president David Bradley wrote a letter to Premier Dalton McGuinty, admonishing the government and requesting a more reasonable phase-in period for the new fees.

In other association news, the Canadian Trucking Alliance appeared before the feds to speak on innovation in the Canadian trucking industry, and Bison's Norm Blagden was elected president of the Manitoba Trucking Association.
