FROM THE NEWS DESK...

A primary sewage-treatment plant backed up in Thunder Bay last week, several hundred homes have been flooded, the City has declared a State of Emergency, and the only way trucks headed west or coming from the west can travel is via Highway 102; a.k.a. Dawson Road — the road that some residents want to ban big trucks from using.

And a recent report by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation has the province placing first for road safety in all jurisdictions in North America. The MTO and the Ontario Trucking Association are crediting the safety score to a number of initiatives, including Ontario’s speed limiter law that came fully in effect in 2009.
