No Increase in Ontario Truckers’ WSIB Premiums

TORONTO — Good news for Ontario truckers: the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has announced that for a second year in a row, there will be no Premium Rate increases for 2015.

According to the Ontario Trucking Association (OTA), ‘rate increase containment’ was the number one issue on the OTA’s WSIB Committee’s agenda in 2012.

In 2011, truckers had a 11.1-percent hike in WSIB premiums and 2012 saw another two percent increase. But since then, the WSIB has two years in a row of rate freezes and the OTA “is encouraged by these results, and the overall direction WSIB is heading.”
