North End Spring’s Debbie Zajaros Knows Her Business

WINNIPEG – A familiar face on Western Canada’s trucking scene has been recognized as one of this country’s ablest entrepreneurs.
And on Thursday, May 17, she will compete against 29 others for the title of 2012 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year. The winner will be announced at a special gala at the Winnipeg Convention Centre, hosted by CTV’s Leah Hextahl and Gord Leclerc.

The candidate is Debbie Zajaros of North End Spring Ltd.

North End Spring has been in the suspension business since 1945 and serves Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Nunavut, North Dakota and Minnesota.

Zajaros purchased the business from her parents six years ago. “This fit well because I knew the product and customers already. I do the purchasing and parts sales, which is a large part of our business and my husband Mike runs the repair facility/spring shop end of things.”

The Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards are sponsored by the Women Business Owners of Manitoba (WBOM). This year’s 30 finalists come from across the province and represent businesses as diverse as jewelry design, trucking, spas, holistic medicine and, of course, truck suspension and repair.

“Manitoba is rich with women entrepreneurs whose stories are inspiring,” said Lucy Camara, President of WBOM and Vice-President of Olatech Business Hosting Corporation.
