OTA unveils 2015 Symposium Series

TORONTO, ON – The Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) has unveiled its 2015 Symposium Series.

The series includes four single-day conferences over the spring and summer, each focusing on a specific area of operations.

April 29 – Building Bridges: The 21st Century Can-Am Border

Explore the impact of recent cross-border initiatives and learn what else awaits trucking.

This session, moderated by Jennifer Fox, vice president of customs and security for the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) as well as the OTA.

May 20 – What’s Op With That? A Roadmap for Regulatory and Safety Compliance

Designed to help executives run a safer and more efficient operation, this session presents all the key (and ever-changing) regulatory, safety and operational policy issues that impact the Ontario trucking industry, both domestically and internationally. Areas of focus will be related to existing and future vehicle weights and dimensions, transportation of dangerous goods, hours of service compliance, and carrier profiles/safety ratings, roadside enforcement. Moderated by CTA and OTA vice president of regulatory compliance, safety and operations, Geoffrey Wood.

June 24 – Inducing Labor: A Business Case for HR

With the shortage of truck drivers and other staff in the transportation industry approaching its peak, recruitment and retention issues are top of mind for many carriers. This symposium will focus on improving human resources management within a fleet, using practical tips, strategies, and case studies. Moderated by Angela Splinter, president of Trucking HR Canada.

September 23 – Truck Talk 3.0: Economic Conditions & Trends in Trucking

This symposium analyzes business conditions, taking the pulse of the trucking. It will feature a fully interactive format, led by a panel of North American freight market experts who will digitally engage audience member participation.
