Owner-Operator Drives Safe, Wins Pick-up Truck

SASKATOON, SK – Owner-operator Sasa Gavranovic is the proud winner of a new Ford F-150 pick-up truck, and all he had to do was drive safe, announced Yanke Group of Companies.

The Brampton, Ont.-based Gavranovic took part in the Yanke Group of Companies ‘Be the One’ Safety program where, every year, participants enter their name in a draw to win a pick-up truck valued up to $50,000.

This year, 437 eligible truck drivers entered their name into the draw and took part in the safety program — a program that since its inception in 2009 has not only proven to be popular among drivers, but one that Yanke Group says has reduced collisions fleet-wide.

The program incorporates online training, safety breakfasts, seminars, signage, logos, decals, presentations and various social media reminders – all encouraging safety.

While Yanke said that the program’s main focus is ‘safety,’ it specifically looks at personal attitudes, behaviours and core values, and how that impacts each workday. A critical component of this, Yanke said, is information sharing, emphasizing the awareness of potential emotional, financial and physical loss that might occur.

The program is targeted to all staff, both on the road and those working in terminals across Canada. In addition to the grand prize of a pick-up truck, participants are awarded cash prizes every month.

Yanke CEO and president Russel Marcoux congratulated all the drivers and staff for taking part in the program, "and helping make the roads a safer place for all of us."
