Peter Baird honored for ‘Service to Industry’
MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Peter Baird, general manager of Canadian Freightways (Eastern) Ltd., was presented with the Canadian Trucking Alliance/Trailmobile ‘Service to Industry Award’ during the opening cerimonies at the TruckCan ’98 industry trade show.
The award, a framed original charcoal portrait, recognizes Baird’s career-long dedication to supporting and improving the trucking industry in Canada.
Affiliated with Canadian Freightways for more than 35 years, Baird also has been a leader in industry associations. He served as chairman of the Ontario Trucking Association from 1989-92, and currently is a board member of the Canadian Trucking Alliance.
Following the presentation, Baird singled out Darshan Kailly, president and CEO of Canadian Freightways, for his longtime support of Baird’s volunteer efforts on behalf of the industry.
