PMTC Seminar to Discuss CVOR Program, Cargo Security

OAKVILLE, ON – As part of its continuing effort to offer more educational seminars the Private Motor Truck Council of Canada (PMTC) announced its next event will held on Jan. 13 in Toronto from 9 a.m. to noon.

“This seminar will cover some very important topics,” the group said in an announcement. “We will have a senior staff member from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) on site to discuss the Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) program in Ontario and how it is used to monitor the on-road safety performance of a fleet and its drivers, how it intervenes when problems are uncovered, and the sanctions that are put in place when necessary.”

According to PMTC, the MTO will also discuss, when used properly, how it can also be used by the fleet itself to monitor and rectify problems, prior to the MTO becoming involved.

“When a fleet properly uses its CVOR to regularly monitor its fleet, it is able spot trends and use this as a proactive way to intervene, train staff and correct issues before they become a major problem,” said PMTC President Mike Millian.

As part of the CVOR presentation, the staff will also discuss the audit program that can occur as a result of on road behaviors.

The MTO will also discuss the recently adopted NSC Standard 11b, (HTA regulation 611 in Ontario) and what companies, mechanics are required to do to ensure they comply with the new periodic motor vehicle inspection requirement.

PMTC will also have AFIMAC Global present a seminar on the topic of Cargo Security. The National Cargo Security Council estimate’s the annual global financial impact to exceed $50 billion. AFIMAC, a PMTC member, will provide valuable tips for protecting people, property and brand at the head office, in the yard, or during transit. Learn what security measures your company should be considering when transporting Cargo from point A to B.

The cost for the seminar is only $25.00 for a PMTC member, and $100.00 for a non-member.
