Team Manitoba Crowned National Truck Driving Champs

Team Manitoba 2014.

WINNIPEG, MB— Canada’s top truck drivers went head to head at the National Professional Truck Driving Championships, held September 6 in Esterel, QC.

Team Manitoba took home the Team Award and one of their members and returning contestant, Ronald Poirier of TST Overland Express, took home both the Grand Champion Award and the first place in the Single-Tandem division.

Each driver must complete a written test, pre-trip inspection and obstacle course.

Rookie of the Year: Rob Stevens, Atlantic Provinces (Home Hardware)

Straight Truck:

1st place: Keith Franklin, Alberta (Canadian Freightways)

2nd place: Dean Grant, British Columbia (Agrifoods Cooperative)

3rd place: Matthias Piepper, Manitoba (Bison Transport)

Single-Single:

1st place: Marc Leger, Quebec (Transport Robert)

2nd place: Evan Hirst, British Columbia

3rd place: Brian Hrabarchuk, Manitoba (Canadian Freightways)

Single-Tandem:

1st place: Ronald Poirier, Manitoba (TST Overland Express)

2nd place: Dale Robert Scott, British Columbia (Fountain Tire)

3rd place: Marcel Pena Gomez, Quebec (FedEx Freight Canada)

Tandem-Tandem:

1st place: Preetpal Nijjar, Ontario (Canada Cartage)

2nd place: Robert Richard, Atlantic Provinces (Midland Transport)

3rd place: Denis Roberts, Manitoba (TST Overland Express)

Super-B Train:

1st place: Keith Atherton, Saskatchewan (SLH Transport)

2nd place: Robert Stevens, Atlantic Provinces (Home Hardware)

3rd place: Aaron Kershaw, Ontario (Tim Hortons)
