Texting a sin in Silver State

CARSON CITY, Nev. – Pretty much anything goes in Vegas. Except — soon — talking and texting while driving.

Nevada became the 34th state to ban texting from behind the wheel and the 10th to prohibit all handheld cell phone use.

The ban which takes effect on Jan. 1. 2012 means that only conversations via hands-free devices will be allowed from a moving vehicle.

Violators face a $50 fine for the first offense, $100 for the second and $250 for the third. Beyond that, drivers could have licenses revoked.
