Toronto-Bound Burlington Bridge Back in Business

BURLINGTON, ON– The northbound lanes of the Burlington Bridge are open again, following a four-day closure, the Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) announced Monday.

The Toronto-bound lanes of the bridge had been closed since a dump-truck accident Thursday.

The OTA said crews worked through the weekend examining the structural integrity of the bridge, cleaning debris and completing extensive repairs to the steel scaffolding and fixing the pavement.

More repairs are needed over the coming months, but for the most part they will be tended to overnight to lessen the impact on traffic, said Astrid Poei, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation’s (MTO) communications coordinator.

There will, however, be lane reductions during these ongoing repairs.

On behalf of the MTO, Poei thanked OTA member carriers for their patience throughout this ordeal.
