Trailer Orders Hit All-Time High in October

COLUMBUS, IN –  North American truckers ordered 47,810 trailers in October, which is 90 percent higher than last year.

“October net orders were up more than 90 percent year over year,” said Frank Maly, director of commercial vehicle transportation analysis and research at ACT. “While high order volumes normally require large fleet support, October saw significant strength from small and medium fleets.”

Truckers ordered through the dealer channel as well, Maly said, and year to date, orders were up 57 percent.

An FTR report showed that October numbers were improved by many fleets starting to order for 2015 in advance.

“The list of positives for the trailer industry include insignificant cancellations, the longest BL/BLU ration of the recovery and better margins for both fleets and trailer OEMs,” Maly said.
