Transcore’s Canadian Freight Index Starts 2012 with Uptick
TORONTO — Transcore reported today that their Canadian spot market freight index saw a steady start to 2012, with volumes increasing one percent December.
Year-over-year, volumes for January decreased by one percent, Transcore said.
Intra-Canadian loads accounted for 28 percent of January’s volumes. Western Canada was the region with the most loads within Canada at 53 percent. Ontario came in at 23 percent, Quebec at 18, followed by Atlantic Canada’s 6 percent.
Equipment postings in January increased 11 percent from the previous month, while year-over-year capacity was unchanged from January 2011.
The equipment-to-loads ratio increased from December, matching the volumes recorded in January 2011.
