Truck convoy lights up Vancouver Island

Organized by the Island Equipment Owners Association (IEOA), the parade of 80 brightly decorated trucks enthralled old and young alike along the 35 km route.

IEOA manager Laura Brewer says the crowd-count was significantly higher than in previous years, due perhaps to the balmy 9-degree temperature.

“A lot of our members look forward to this night a year in advance,” she said. “Covered with some very intricate designs, it’s hard to believe some of these are working trucks.”

Along the route, food was collected for local food banks. In past years, more than 4,500 kilograms of non-perishable food has been added to the stores of three area food banks.

The crowd was bigger this year for the 16th annual Truck Light Convoy.
