TWO-PIECE WHEEL NUT

SKF has teamed with MacLean-Fogg/Metform, the U.S. manufacturer of the original Securex two-piece wheel nut, to be the sole aftermarket supplier of the nut for hub-piloted wheels.

Meeting the stringent requirements of the J1965 standard, the Securex nut is designed to provide increased clamp force through more torque while maintaining optimized torque/tension, says SKF. The result is reduced operating costs with extended life. Its premium materials include a special 'PTFE' coating that's said to protect against corrosion and friction.

The Securex M22 X 1.5 two-piece wheel nut fits most tractors and trailers with hub-piloted wheels. All SKF Securex wheel nuts feature the name stamped directly on the nut for easy identification, so counterfeits will be easy to spot.

The SKF Securex wheel nuts come in a 10-piece box (part number MV39702), or in a 300-piece bucket (part number MV39702B).

Why is it that so many products are manufactured to help prevent "wheel-offs" or loose wheels with the Hub Piloted system?....It is obvious that hub piloted wheels are prone to loosening, especially the L/H side and NHTSA should take action immediately.
