U.S. Xpress Fits Truck Fleet With LED Headlights

Falconer, NY— U.S. Xpress equips their fleet’s 2014 Freightliner Cascadia trucks with Truck-Lite’s LED headlights.

“Safety is always a key concern when we spec equipment. We look to be innovative and investigate those technologies that not only meet or exceed our safety standards, but they also produce a ROI by reducing costs,” said Gerry Mead, vice president of maintenance at U.S. Express.

“Truck-Lite LED headlights exceed our criteria and create a win-win situation for us. They increase our drivers’ field of vision, LED headlights last longer, and they draw less power than standard bulbs, thus reducing CSA violations, which in turn equals lower maintenance costs.”

U.S. Xpress will have 1,950 Freightliner Cascadia 2014 models built with Truck-Lite’s custom LED headlights in 2014. This standard specification will be applied across their international fleet serving the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

U.S. Xpress CEO Max Fuller commented: “We continually work throughout our organization to educate and prepare our employees on the safe operation of all aspects of our fleet. We continue to research and deploy new technologies, enhance existing processes, and identify opportunities for improvement. Standardizing with the Truck-Lite LED headlights is confirmation of our commitment to these standards.”

Truck-Lite claims there’s been a positive response of their product from the military and that they use the same technology for commercial vehicles.

Truck-Lite President, Brian Kupchella said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with and support U.S. Xpress with our custom LED forward lighting system for their new Freightliner trucks. The partnership we have with U.S. Xpress allows us to share the innovative spirit we both have for greater safety and service for our industry.”
