VelociCare monitors, repairs onboard tech

Velociti has unveiled VelociCare, a program which remotely monitors onboard technologies like Electronic Logging Devices, and proactively ensures they continue to run as designed.

Today there can be a gap between a failure and when it’s reported by drivers or noticed by maintenance teams.  “It’s this black hole that no one can identify. How long has this been a problem?” says Deryk Powell, president. That may be OK with an optional system, but not with mission-critical devices. And the company estimates about 10 to 20% of systems need to be serviced in a given year.

VelociCare’s turnkey solution is designed to provide spare parts, system upgrades, user training, and project management for dozens of systems – ranging from ELDs to video and reefer monitors. On an average day, it has about 300 technicians working in the U.S. and 20 in Canada.

If an intermittent problem or outright failure is noticed, VelociCare will first try to fix the issue remotely. The next step involves contacting the technology provider for information on issues like firmware upgrades. If those fail to address the issue, a technician is dispatched to meet the truck. Fleets, meanwhile, can access an online portal to track the status of open repair tickets.

The company already supports seven fleets, but those are also responsible for 160,000 units.

It’s offered for US $3 to $6 per truck per month.
