Volvo Trucks seeks out safest North American fleets

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Volvo Trucks North America is seeking North American fleets for their annual safety awards.

Each year Volvo recognizes two trucking companies with the safest driving records and best safety programs and gives each winner $25,000 to put towards safety-related initiatives.

All U.S. and Canadian fleets that have at least five Class 8 tractors can enter so long as at least one of the trucks is a Volvo.

Entrants will be ranked on their accident frequency rates and the quality of the accident prevention activities. Grand prize awards will be presented in two categories: over and under 20-million miles. You can get the entry form here.

“Nothing is more important in managing a fleet than maintaining a stellar safety record, and we are proud to honor the trucking industry’s best performers again this year,” said Göran Nyberg, president of Volvo Trucks North America. “Safety is a core value at Volvo, and we are proud to offer active safety technologies to help make the highways safer for everyone and passive safety features to help protect a fleet’s most valuable asset: The driver.”

In 2014, Prescott, ON-based Kriska Transportation won in the over 20-million mile category.

The deadline to enter is June 30, 2015 and the awards will be presented at the American Trucking Associations Management Conference and Exhibition in Philadelphia this fall.

Michelin Americas Truck Tires will again join Volvo Trucks in sponsoring the annual award. Michelin has been a supporting sponsor since 2010.
