Want a CVOR in Ontario? Do The Test.

TORONTO – – Until three weeks ago, all a person in Ontario had to do to get a Commercial Vehicle Operators Registration (CVOR) was provide some identifying information and pay the fee.

Now — since Oct.1 — you have to prove you know something about the industry you’re getting into.

According to Bob Nichols of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO), “The New Entrant Education and Evaluation Program was developed in consultation with industry stakeholders and is intended to enhance safety by improving the knowledge of new Ontario-based truck and bus operators applying for a CVOR.”

The CVOR test will be a one-time requirement.

Applicants will be required to do the test in person at a DriveTest Centre.

The fee is $32 and the application will probably take 24 hours to process.
