EDMONTON — Westcan has appointed Grant Mitchell to President and CEO of the RTL Westcan Group of Companies, the company announced this week, as it also issued a 'thanks' to outgoing CEO Tom Kenny.
Mitchell, who joined Westcan in February 2012 as President, "has made a significant contribution to the strong operating and financial performance" this past year, the company said in a statement. Prior to Westcan, the 20-year transportation industry veteran was General Manager of RST Industries and Sunbury Transport. He holds an Executive MBA from the University of Western Ontario as well as a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from St Mary’s University.
"We are very pleased that after an exhaustive search we were able to find a person of Grant’s caliber," commented Tom Kenny, "and we are confident that he will continue to contribute significant value in his new role as President and CEO."
For his part, Kenny has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors. Kenny has been with te company for over 36 years, and was heavily involved in bringing the company to where it is now. The Board of Directors thanked Kenny for years of service, adding that they are looking forward to working with him in his new role.
