Wheel-End Warranty

SKF has announced the launch of its new premium wheel-end-system extended warranty packages, under the SKF Trouble-Free Operation (TFO) program, for both the trailer OEM and retrofit markets. Trailer manufacturers and fleets can choose extended-warranty options for up to seven years, based on the components in the package. The new warranties will be available in January 2015.

In enhancing the TFO extended-warranty wheel end system, SKF has evaluated and ensured compatibility of its components with the Meritor Tire Inflation System by P.S.I. SKF is currently a factory first-fit on many U.S. truck manufacturers with the SKF Scotseal PlusXL and TF hubcaps, and given the increasing utilization of automated inflation systems, the company says it was critical to make sure that the TFO platform works well with the Meritor/P.S.I. product.

The warranty package is claimed to offer several advantages. The package does not require customers to purchase pre-assembled kits. Instead, they can continue to buy and install products as they do today. As well, the warranty package typically includes an SKF Scotseal Plus XL wheel seal, SKF premium tapered bearingtapered bearing, and SKF TF hubcap which can be used with proven industry spindle-nut designs and lubricants.
