Why Headache Racks Pay

VANCOUVER, BC-A B.C. driver escaped death by mere inches after a steel beam crashed through his windshield, hitting the back of his seat and almost pinning his head to the truck’s wheel.

The driver was travelling on Highway One, hauling a load of heavy steel beams when he hit the brakes, causing three of the beams to slide forward, through the back of his cab, his windshield and partly onto the road in front of him.

The driver was taken to the hospital with non-threatening injuries, according to reports.

Police told CTV news that the driver faces no charges because he had secured the beams according to regulations and he was not overweight.

The truck was not equipped with a headache rack, which in B.C., are only mandatory on logging trucks.
